Greetings and Hello!  May God’s peace and mercy be with you this day and always!!

Welcome to my blog!
My name is Sr. Sarah and I am a newly consecrated sister in a religious community in the Philippines in the Diocese of Borongan.

I have lots of stories to tell about my growing up, my vocation story, my missionary work, etc…and these will come out in the posts I write, so come back often to read more!!  But as to the title of my blog, allow me to explain…

The religious community I belong to is located in the Philippines and is called Oikos Ptochos Tou Theou (that’s Greek)…in English it means “The Poor Household of God.”  It is taken from the bible:

Ephesians 2: 19-20: “So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and the prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself as the capstone.”

So, we often refer to ourselves as God’s poor household.  We are an order of missionaries.  All of the Sisters, including myself, were at one time professionals in our chosen careers… dentist, pharmacist, teachers, advertiser, nurses… and each of us felt God calling us to help His poor people.  Actually, everyone is called to do that whether we have families, are single, are religious, children, teens, parents -God asks each of us to reach out to others in need.  The difference in religious orders is that God wants us to be full-time workers in His vineyard, or household as the case may be.               So here we are… in the Philippines- 5 Filipino Sisters, 3 Filipino novices and me…a alien in Borongan...but a welcome and loved alien!!!

I’ve been a missionary for 7 years now and find I am still learning the ropes and fumbling a bit, but I do my best and try to do what I feel God is calling me to do.  I started a blog during my first mission trip and kept it up for a while.  It’s called God's Glory Among the Poor, and there's some good stories from Africa, Peru and here in the Philippines.  I stopped writing for a while, but I’ve been challenged to start it up again, so here goes.

I guess my hope for this blog is that it may inspire and challenge people to discover and develop their missionary heart and to be a little source of encouragement in finding and following God’s will, 💓 for He has a special path for each and every one of us to lead us back to Him in eternal joy forever.

My path, as you will undoubtably see, is a little lico-lico, as they say here- that’s like a winding, twisty path…but it’s getting straighter now, and I’m hoping and praying that it’s the one He wants me on!!
